Dimensions - understanding size on wall decalsby Paula on Monday 05 May, 2014
A question that comes up quite often when working with any wall product is: what size should I get?
Figuring out the appropriate size for wall decals can be quite challenging, especially when the dimensions of the wall itself remain a question. Since there are no official standard dimensions for walls, the best way to tackle the issue is to measure the space where the decal is being applied.
That is why we decided to put together a blog post on how to properly measure your space. So get your ruler or measuring tape out and let’s get this party started!
The first and most important step is understanding what we are measuring. Height and width are the two dimensions we deal with on 2 dimensional objects such as wall decals and wall murals. So to make it crystal clear:

Height – is the dimension measured from top to bottom or vertically.
Width – is the dimension measured from left to right or horizontally.
The second step is to make sure we are measuring it correctly, always keeping the ruler/ measuring tape straight across the space.
The third step is to evaluate how much of the space we are looking to utilize. Sometimes covering the whole wall is not the best option since it can look overbearing in some rooms, especially if there are already other accent pieces on the walls. Half, one third, a quarter, 20% are great references we can use to make a judgment of how much of the area will be dedicated to the wall product.
The last step is optional: getting a second opinion. If there is still doubt, getting a second opinion from a friend, family member or, even better, a design professional will do the trick.
